Church Weekend Away

8-10 September 2023

QCCC Mapleton

As we trust in Jesus we become part of a family, with God as our Father! Our Weekend Away is a chance to celebrate our community together as God’s people. It’s the pinnacle of our church community calendar – such a great weekend of fun, bible teaching, and quality time with our church family. This is a weekend you don’t want to miss!

Our site – QCCC Mapleton

Our annual camp is held at QCCC Mapleton. The rainforest setting, comfortable accommodation and range of activities make this a fantastic venue to enjoy the weekend together. This beautiful site comes complete with pool and water slide, a lake for canoeing, a bonfire pit and much more!

Weekend Speaker

This year we look forward to welcoming Mark Fairhurst as our speaker! Mark is the Executive Director of CMS Queensland with Northern NSW. He has a passion for cross-cultural ministry working with CMS for 17 years helping churches and Christians to take their place in God’s global mission. Prior to this he pastored a multi-cultural church in Sydney and fostered cross-cultural ministry across the region. He is married to Leanne and has two adult children.

“Radical Discipleship”
In the upper room, Jesus prepared his disciples for his coming death and resurrection and their future witness and discipleship when he would no longer be physically with them.  Jesus’ words in John 13-15 are deeply comforting and radically challenging for us, as we live in the age between his ascension and return. Join us, as we sit at the feet of our Master, and learn what it means to remain in him and bear fruit for the Father’s glory.

Registration and Coming for Sunday

Registration for camp has now closed. But, we’d still love you to come up for church on Sunday! The campsite requires being informed of all people on the grounds, so if you’re going to come up or have any other questions, please contact Ange Keegan keegantribe@gmail.com.

What to bring?

You will need to bring your own linen/sleeping bag, towel, toiletries, clothes for warm and cool weather, sporting gear, swimmers, games, and of course, Bible and a pen.

Sponsorship

If you are able to assist others in coming to camp please click on the sponsorship button below and fill out the form. Thank you for your care.

FAQs

What if I can’t afford it?

We don’t want cost to be prohibitive for coming to camp. We’re offering sponsorship for larger families (see above). If you need additional help, please talk to Kirk Zylstra (kirk@christcentral.org.au).

How does the accommodation work?

There are 4-5 twin bunks in most rooms. We seek your feedback and take needs into consideration as we allocate rooms. Some families have a room to themselves, others share and there’s also the option of single gender rooms.

Will my kids have anything to do?

Heaps! The outdoor and Saturday night games are great for a range of ages, there’s plenty to do in free time (pool, canoes, sport, games with friends) and there’s a kids’ program / creche during the teaching sessions. For the younger kids, ‘Bedtime Stories’ together in the evening is a great way to finish the day!

What if I need some time to study?

We know this can be a busy time of year for students! This year there’ll be a quiet room available from 4-6pm on Saturday for those needing to study or do assignment work.

Did you say Dance Party?

Yep! After the games on Saturday night there’ll be a youth presented Dance Party for anyone who wants to turn up the dial on the fun for another hour!
