Step into discipleship with a year of growth, service, and deepening faith.

CHRIST CENTRAL TRAINEESHIP

Are you keen to grow as a follower of Jesus and be trained in sharing Christ and discipling others? Do you have a heart to serve and want to invest in this over the coming year? If so, then read on to find out more about a Christ Central Traineeship!

1. What is a Christ Central Traineeship?

A Traineeship is a guided ministry experience designed to proactively engage participants in growing as a disciple of Christ and making more disciples on the north edge of Brisbane.

The goals of the Traineeship are that trainees would:

  • Grow in knowing Christ and in godliness
  • Be better equipped to serve and disciple others

Traineeships have several elements:

1. A weekly reflection time with a Mentor

2. Training in a variety of areas:

      • Serving and Leading
      • Sharing the Gospel
      • A particular area of ministry (eg. Kids, Youth, Music)

3. Hands on involvement in a variety of ministries, with one main focus area.

4. Check ins with a Supervisor to guide & reflect on your experience

2. What Are We Hoping For?

1. Growth in Trainees’ godliness, a greater awareness of their skills & gifts, and a clearer sense of how they might use them in serving Jesus.

2. The development of Christians with a disciple-making mindset who desire to multiply gospel ministry by evangelising & maturing others through the Word.

3. The development of Christians who are ready for, and more actively involved in ministry at Christ Central as a result of their traineeship. We note that a Traineeship could be a healthy step toward considering an MTS apprenticeship.

4. The growth of Christ Central in our ability to multiply, train and disciple key leaders.

3. Weekly Time Commitment & Duration

Trainees commit to serving 8 hours per week. This includes:

  • giving your Sunday morning or Friday night to a ministry
  • a weekly catch up with your Mentor
  • Training two, or occasionally three, times in a month (by discussion, but normally on a Wednesday morning at the Petrie Hub)

Trainees agree to prioritise these times.  Time off must be organised in advance, with your Mentor or Trainer.

Traineeships are for 12 months. There is a review after 6 months, allowing the Trainee or Christ Central to conclude the Traineeship at that point if needed.

4. What’s Involved?

Several people contribute in significant ways to make a Traineeship fruitful, along with the support of the wider church, and the encouragement of the Christ Central Staff team.

A. Trainees

Trainees commit to:

  • keeping up with the Christ Central Bible Reading plan
  • meeting weekly with your Mentor to talk life and godliness and reflect on prereading
  • serving in ministries – could be Sundays or Fri nights. Specifics to be worked out
  • engaging in training & guided reflection on your experience with a Trainers
  • meeting quarterly with a Supervisor to pray and debrief

It is also expected that Trainees will be active members of a Growth Group.

As noted, Trainees interact with a Mentor, Trainers and Supervisor. At times one person fulfills more than one role (eg. serving as both Mentor and Trainer).

B. Mentor
  • conducts a weekly meeting with the Trainee – reading and discussing book, talking life and godliness
  • supports and encourages the Trainee under their care
  • commits to praying with and for the Trainee
C. Trainer
  • train and provide feedback in ministry areas (1. Serving and Leading, 2. Sharing the Gospel, 3. Ministry Specific, eg. Kids, Youth)
  • provide regular, on-the-job feedback to Trainee, for their encouragement and growth
  • develop the Trainee towards significant leadership responsibility
  • commit to grow in their own leadership & training of others
D. Supervisor
  • meets with the Trainee each quarter
  • provides a sounding board for processing life & ministry lessons to come out of the traineeship program
  • receives feedback from the Trainee on their experience
  • conducts a 6 monthly review, on the basis of input from the Trainee, Trainers and Mentor

5. Ignite Training Conference

Trainees kick off the year by attending Ignite Training Conference, Brisbane from the 13-16 January, 2025!

6. Cost

Resources during the Traineeship are provided without cost to the Trainee. Applicants cover half the cost of the Ignite Training Conference (about $75).

7. Application

Applicants must provide a completed application form by November 10 to the elders of Christ Central for their approval.

Please talk to Kirk Zylstra to find out more.

8. Celebration

At the end of the traineeship Christ Central wishes to celebrate and give thanks for all that God has done through the Trainee!

We look forward to welcoming you at Christ Central.
