At Christ Central we recognise that the teenage years are an important stage of life. It’s the time of growing independence. It’s when there’s a shift of influence from parents to peers. And it’s the time when people make decisions about where they want to go in life. We want youth to discover Jesus who offers grace and brings transformation – transformation not at the surface level of fashion or taste in music or morality, but where it really matters, in the heart.
Our youth group at Christ Central is called Christ Central Youth. We aim to be elevated lights for Jesus as he calls us to be, ‘You are the light of the world, A town built on a hill (elevated) cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand (elevated), and it gives light to everyone in the house‘. Matthew 5:14-15.
At Christ Central Youth we want to be a youth group that:
Builds Bible based, Gospel Centred Growth. As a church who believes that the bible is God’s word, we endeavour to saturate our youth ministry with it. Our desire is that we would clearly communicate the living Word and that everything we do at Christ Central Youth would be centred and shaped by the gospel.
Invests in Relationships. The goal of our ministry is to train young people to passionately love and enjoy Jesus Christ through a personal relationship with him. We also want to develop a team of leaders passionate about discipling young people, sharing their joys, struggles and burdens, not just in our times of meeting but through ongoing relationships.
Partners with Parents. We believe that the primary disciplers of any child are the parents and therefore at Christ Central Youth we want to develop relationships with parents as well as the youth. We want to help parents equip their families to become passionate followers of Jesus.
Builds Community. At Christ Central Youth we want the action to be in the community life, where we serve each other and build genuine relationship. We aim to engage our youth in the local church body, young and old, that they would love, serve, pray and enjoy fellowship with all of Christ Central.
Is on a Mission for Jesus’ Fame. We want to encourage all of the young people at Christ Central Youth to recognise that because God’s grace has changed them, they have a story to tell, and a role to play in God’s mission to extend his kingdom.
Christ Central Youth meets during school term time on Friday evenings at the Community Hall, 7:00-9:00pm.
Christ Central Youth Leaders
We have a fantastic leadership team and all our leaders have a Queensland Government ‘blue card’ and are ‘childsafe certified’. ‘Childsafe’ is a helpful accreditation program that’s required for children and youth leaders in Presbyterian churches in Queensland.
